Living my dream

So how does it feel to be able to do things that you always wanted to do. To be able to spend time and money in the way you want to, to do things that you feel like and not what others want you to do, to be able to put your phone on silent mode and throw it in some corner of your house, to be able to make your house unfathomably dirty and not worry about cleaning it anytime soon - Quite liberating I must say - As my engineering day friends know and my school and post grad friends don't, Badminton is the biggest passion that I have ever had. So much so that I have ended up playing Badminton till 5 am in the morning on exam days during Engineering and thus proudly flunked exams.
A reprise of the good old time, I have been pursuing this passion again since the last 6 months. And I am loving every bit of it. Just bought my 2nd racket - A Victor SW 35 to go with my Nanospeed 9900. Cant wait to get to the Badminton court and bash the shuttle around with my new racket - Just like back in engineering days - The difference - I couldn't have thought of spending 10 grands on a new racket back then - that too twice over - No wonder I am living my dream and not feeling guilty about it :)

The Dark Night

I once owned a house along the sea
It felt like a dream too good to be
Built it I had over the months and years
Sweating it through all that I could bear

I whispered in everyone’s ears without being shy
That I had found my roof till the moment I die
It surely had to be the one of its kind
For no where could you ever such a house find

I felt I had nothing to fear I must have been blind
Alas I never saw coming what the heaven had in mind
One fateful night from the sea came the tides so high
Break through my house they did under the midnight sky

As the morning dawned I saw the orange sphere
Laughing from the eastern horizon at my despair
For once I owned a house along the sea
And now it seems like a dream too good to be

The Shock Therapy

Things are never what they look in real life - we are programmed to accept a small deviation from what we perceive as reality - it is when the deviation is bigger than our tolerance limits that we are taken aback - and with everyone having different tolerance limits, everyone reacts differently when coming to grips with truth - the real one versus the perceived one.

When Swine Flew

You need to be in Pune to understand well all that I am about to write. Serious enough as the Swine Flu is, the panic among common people has assumed monstrous proportions in Pune. Its complete mayhem out here. Multiplexes, theatres, malls and schools are getting closed faster than I Banks during peak recession times. People are glued to TV sets. Swine Flu is definitely the in thing - The box office ruler - as the Saas Bahu viewership takes a tailspin. Its the new reality show in the block. And the N95 mask is definitely the one playing the lead role - The Dev Anand. People are going crazy for N95. A tenner for every single person you find in Pune who hasnt heard of N95. And just like Dev saab, the copy cats and look alikes of N95 can be found everywhere. Just yesterday I went to my neighbourhood Kirana shop and found a single person buying 15 N95 alook alikes. I always thought Kirana shops kepts things of daily use. May be the daily use stuff a week back were different from what they are right now. And whats more, the duplicates are being sold at a premium too (275 bucks per pc. when during good ol' days the real thing used to cost 50 bucks). What the heck - The N95 never made a difference as per WHO, so might as well sell a look alike - make hay while Swine Flies. Keeping up with the trend, Pudumjee Paper Mills has launched it Swine Flu line of accessories - The Swine Sanitizer, the Flu Napkins, and other designer products, as they set out redefining the FMCG market. PP's stock tip - Invest in Pudumjee shares - Be a millionare by the time the Pigs get grounded. A real money spinner and a must do for people pained by a certain Ramalinga Raju.

Speaking of Swine Flu, I have made sure that I am not to be left too far behind. 2 bottles of Sanitizers, 1 bottle of Dettol, 30 Cetrizine tablets, 20 Crocins, 20 Avil tablets, 60 Ayurvedic tables and 6 bottles of Homeopathic medicines is what I have to boast of my Swine Flu collection. I am sure everyone has a stock pile of these fashionable accessories. And for those who dont - make it quick - grab a dozen crocins or two - that is if there is any of it left in the market. Else be damned to be out of fashion. Thats the way it is. Its a mean world and there is no place for late movers.

Mad Angles

Just as people were beginning to miss PPisms, I am back. PPism stands for anything that is not remotely close to being sane presented in a way that makes the perpetrator sound smart. Given that this is my first blog for this year, lets keep it happy and gay.
So lets talk Love Aaj Kal - Interesting concept, nicely presented and happily and insanely watched 3 times in 4 days by yours truly (And Mynd It 'yours truly' is not a big fan of pirated DVDs until and unless it has MP3 songs worthy of being played while commuting in a car - So all 3 movies in theatre). Speaking of Mynd It - 'Quick Gun Murugan' looks encouraging enough - Me targeting first day last show to catch the South Indian Honourable and Fashionable Cowboy in action - Dhishoom Dhishoom - Mynd It.
Back to Love Aaj Kal - The Movie made me think - rather remember my crushes. Saif says - Paaji mujhe pyar 15 baar ho chuka hai. Baring his 18 inch biceps (which is well compensated by the extra inches around my waist), Saif is no different than me. Paaji mujhe bhi pyar 15 baar ho chuka hai. And whats more sara pyar tab hua when I used to ride bi-cycle - riding to the school, then tution and then IIT (Well IIT part is purely for show off - there were no girls in my poor department). So it turns out I am the perfect love aaj kal guy - a bit of both the world. By the way where is this blog going.. Deepika saath hoti to bolti - Shut Up. Haaye re Deepika - Deepika and Me - What an angle sirji - Angle naya hai - Humain discuss karna chahiye - Mujhe aur Deepika ko saath main.
Back to Love Aaj Kal (Take 2) - Rishi Kapoor was truely amazing - What an actor - Kya charming banda hai. And when he says - Ek jamane main, main bhi gajab kisam ka handsome tha - how true. And his son - equally dashing. And his son's sweetheart - Deepika - waah waah - Bichari thodi umar main choti reh gayi mujhse. Else agar mere umar ki hoti then who knows we might have been playing badminton together - Deepika and Me playing badminton together - Angle naya hai - Humain discuss karna chahiye - Mujhe aur Deepika ko saath main.
Back to Love Aaj Kal (Take 3) - Deepika acted really well in the movie - I didnt think she was much of an actor after watching Om Shaanti Om (By the way the Om Shaanti Om piece in Love Aaj Kal was very funny). But Deepika's acting in Love Aaj Kal was truely amazing. She really handled the break up part with Rahul Khanna amicably. She actually managed to bring a touch of sanity to the whole situation - Break up the day after shaadi!!! (Wonder why they broke up the day after marriage - Kuch Bhi!) Back to Deepika - Have you noticed Deepika's initials are DP - PP and DP sounds so cool together - Angle naya hai - Humain discuss karna chahiye - Mujhe aur Deepika ko saath main - What say??

PP's words of wisdom

Lets say I become famous one day and people start looking for pick up lines from me - so just planning for the future :) And be assured these are my creation.. no plagiarism here. To be updated regularly by PP
  1. You cant be a good leader if you feel that its lonely at top
  2. When you think about your past and feel what a fool you have been, it means you have evolved into a better person
  3. There are three ways you can be famous - you have a Godfather, you have a rich father or you have God by your side
  4. Whats common in a discussion between two guys and between two girls? - A major part of both the discussions is bound to be focused on girls
  5. I am the smartest - because only I am smart enough to understand how smart I am!
  6. Imagination gives you options - reality doesn't
  7. Being single gives you happiness.. being double gives you wisdom
  8. Life is not as simple as maths.. being double doesn't double your happiness and being triple doesn't merely triple your happiness
  9. Genius and stupid people are similar - They have unlimited opportunity to show their talent

Boulevard of Broken Dreams

A dream in my eye
Not an effort too shy
To make a mark I had hoped
To conquer the world I had conjured

But then my feet froze in the cold
As unfolding before me was the story of old
I saw coming true the lurid reality I always dread
Lost on me was the path I had hoped to tread

The pain pinches me no end
My efforts are no better than castles of sand
Alas it was never about how hard I work
For never was it possible to be noticed in the dark

God give me the strength to stand
Another day to live another fight to withstand
For I still have a dream in my eye
And I don’t want to be an effort too shy
